Brown Eyes.
• Manner of speech: Generally a middle-class accent, nothing particularly unique or spectacular about it. It's a fairly typical accent for someone born in Staffordshire.
• Manner of dress: Practical but classic. Beth is not one to dress up for an occasion, but she does like to look appropriate. Her clothing has classic lines, and she is more likely to take her cues from classic style icons rather than from current fashion fads. She usually is dressed warmly as for some reason she tends to frequently lean towards being cold with the exception of the very warmest months.
• Physical description: Beth is a bit shorter than average height and is of average build, neither too thin, nor too fat. There is nothing particularly remarkable about Beth's appearance, and she tends to frequently get overlooked by most people. However, if someone does notice her, they'll quickly notice her eyes are bright and lively and that when she smiles she has dimples. She wears her hair long and typically down, and has a nose that turns up a bit at the end, and that she is actually, rather cute.
• First impression: Oh, there's someone there? I didn't see.

• PB: Carey Mulligan.

Personal
• General personality: Extroverted & Curious: These are the two characteristics that best define Beth.

Beth lives with her two sisters, Harriette and Laurel, and she prefers to be around people, even if she is not particularly chatting with them or socially mingling with them. Beth is the girl who packs up her books and takes them to a coffee house so that she can enjoy the company of others while she’s studying. In a non-war setting, Beth would rarely meet someone that she wouldn’t like (and even those she wouldn’t like, she’d pass off as a ‘conflict in personality’) but the fact that she is living (somewhat) in the middle of a war has changed that undeniably. While Beth still does not have vendetta grudge style enemies, she definitely can list several people (mostly known Death Eaters) that she does not like or think highly of.

If curiosity killed the cat, then satisfaction brought it back. Outside of her friendly personality, Beth’s defining characteristic is her curiosity. It is this characteristic that placed her in Ravenclaw house despite the fact that she is not the most ambitious of individuals (She is not a Slytherclaw, certainly!). Beth loves to learn things, and she will frequently seek out knowledge or ideas in order to better understand the Wizarding World that she feels privileged to be a part of. For better or for worse, Beth can be single-mindedly obsessive when she gets an idea or a question that she is interested in. Give her a task or a responsibility and she will follow it through to the end. She is organized and at times can be almost ruthless in her persistence.

Beth is a very stereotypical youngest child. She was the baby of the family, the youngest daughter by several years and the youngest child by a few. As a result she can be rather self-centred and very used to having her own way. Thus, despite the fact that she can be very responsible and organized as a leader, she tends to often let others step in and lead for her. She also tends to not volunteer for tasks unless it is something that is of personal interest to her.

Despite her extroversion and friendliness Beth is not particularly an open personality. She easily relates to other individuals emotional distress and does not find it difficult to relate to people who are hurting or sympathise with them. However, despite her ability to empathise with others she does find it rather difficult to talk much about her personal emotions. As a real example, she will easily tell you her opinions on thinks that are not personally important to her (Quidditch, healing, & charms), but it is much more difficult to encourage her to speak of her feelings about her family or her dreams. She tends to avoid such conversations entirely, and as a result it can be rather difficult to feel as if you really know her and those who do not may consider her rather shallow or flighty.

• Strengths and weaknesses: [Strengths] Curiosity; Intensity of focus; Emotional depth; Persistence; Beth's greatest strengths are her curiosity and her persistence. It is both of these that make her an excellent potential healer. Her persistence has assisted her throughout her Hogwarts career as she has had to work very hard to prove herself to those who did not see her as automatically part of the Wizarding World. Beth has an emotional depth and ability to empathise with others that again makes her an excellent healer, and is the primary reason that she is a member of the Order of the Phoenix.

[Weaknesses] Selfishness; Obsessiveness; Shallow; Ruthlessness; Perhaps Beth's worst failing is her occasional inability (or lack of desire) to recognise her strengths. She could be a powerful leader, but she tends to shirk from that position and relegate her potential to others around her. She is self-centred and if she were not a Muggleborn, there is a very strong possibility that she would have stayed un-involved in the Order because of a lack of personal interest in what the Order is fighting for - her blood status gives her a personal reason to consider the fight worth her time. The fact that she does not easily give up information about herself combined with her extroversion can make her appear shallow to someone who does not know better. And her intensity of focus can quickly become an obsession that can create difficulties in her life and the lives of those around her.

• Mental health: Quite briefly Beth is sane with a pinch of narcissism. Anyone looking at her would believe her a completely normal young woman, and for the most part they would be correct. Her emotional and psychological struggles are very much similar to the average human beings.

Relationships

• Relatives:
Father; Reggie Edward Rolf Frobisher [b. 1920]
Mother; Victoria Jane Frobisher nee Giles [b. 1928]
Sister; Harriette Briony Frobisher [b. 1950]
Sister; Laurel Cornelia Frobisher [b. 1953]
Brother; Norton Baxter Frobisher [b. 1954]

• Relationship with family:
Father; Reggie Edward Rolf Frobisher [b. 1920] Reggie Frobisher is not the sort of man who was thrilled about having two daughters who were witches, but he has mellowed with age. He is a stern and moral man who fought in the Royal Air Force during World War II. Beth has a usually good relationship with her father. Thanks to Harriette being significantly older, and also magical, Beth didn’t have to have the same difficulties her elder sister experienced when she performed accidental magic. These days Reggie has a general understanding of his daughter’s world, and although they haven’t shared with him the current political climate of the Wizarding World, he would more than likely support Beth’s involvement with the Order.

Mother; Victoria Jane Frobisher nee Giles [b. 1928] Victoria Frobisher is the absolute opposite of her husband. When Harriette received her letter Victoria was delighted and was the main force behind Reggie agreeing to allow Harriette to actually go to Hogwarts. When Beth showed magic at the age of two years, Victoria got extremely excited and sent off a letter to Professor Dumbledore, asking if ‘Beth would be a witch too?’ These days Victoria frequently asks her daughters about the Wizarding World, and has sparked Beth’s curiosity in how magic manifested itself twice in her family whom – so far as they know – had no magical blood prior to Harriette’s manifestation.

Sister; Harriette Briony Frobisher [b. 1950, Hufflepuff; 1961-1968] Beth is closest to her eldest sister Harriette who is also a Witch. Although Harriette was a Hufflepuff long before Beth attended Hogwarts, it was her eldest sister who helped her do her shopping for Hogwarts, and it is her eldest sister she frequently turns to now when she needs advice. Harriette does not know of her sister’s involvement with the Order of the Phoenix although she is concerned about the politics of the Wizarding World. However, unlike Beth, Harriette has tended to keep her feet more firmly in the Muggle world (perhaps partially a response to her father’s skepticism of the Wizarding World, and her being the eldest daughter). Harriette and Laurel are Beth’s main connections to the Muggle world.

Sister; Laurel Cornelia Frobisher [b. 1953] Laurel lives with Harriette and Beth, and the three of them share their flat in London. Laurel is closest to Hariette who tends to be overall less ‘Witchy’ than Beth does. If she fights with any of her siblings, Laurel is the sibling Beth will argue with. Laurel has been known to call her a selfish prat, and in truth Laurel was probably not too wrong. A general personality conflict between the two, Beth who is extroverted and Laurel who is quite introverted, is exasperated by a mild jealousy from Laurel’s side, and a tendency to push for whatever she wants from Beth’s side.

Brother; Norton Baxter Frobisher [b. 1954] Norton is the perfect son in the Frobisher family. None of the sisters have too much contact with Norton, who has gone into politics much to Reggie Frobisher’s delight. As a result of his sisters’ less than average abilities, Norton sees Harriette and Beth only at family holiday dinners so they do not garner too much political attention as he would like to get an elected position in the House of Commons.

• Sexuality: Heterosexual.
• Significant other: None.
• Children: None.

Educational
• School: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy
• Years: [1970-1977]
• House: Ravenclaw
• Achievements: Prefect, Seeker
• NEWTS:
Charms –O
DADA – EE
Herbology –E
Potions – O
Transfiguration –A
Ancient Runes - A

Occupational
• Occupation: Clerk at Flourish & Blots. Because of Harriette, Beth felt that she had to go and get an ID card to keep herself and her sister from being noticed too much. However, she chose to quit her training at St Mungo's, as she felt it had more ties to the Ministry. She kept her position at Flourish and Blots as she generally trusts her employer and thinks that he would not purposefully harm her. Beth has been offering her Healing services to the Order and helping her sister Harriette on and off, although she is not particularly good at the sewing and design that Harriette does.
• Previous jobs, if any: Healer Trainee at St. Mungo's; Spell damage ward. As a Muggleborn she was afraid to return to St Mugno's since the Death Eaters took over but she is determined to continue learning as much as she can on the side.

The War
• How is your character involved in the war?
She is a member of the Order of the Phoenix. She helps provide healing for the Order and for Muggleborns who might be reluctant to go to the Clinic. Beth is currently still living as an unknown member of the Order, and relatively free, although she tends to not wander about the Wizarding World these days.

Additionally, rhetorical questions from her mother awoke in Beth an interest in genealogy and oddly enough blood lines. She's curious about how both she and Harriette ended up with magical blood, and would be perfectly happy to take the study of eugenics back from the Purists - if she can figure out how to do so.
• Will your character die during the next year?
This is a war and everything is very uncertain isn't it? We shall see.
• If yes, please give some details on how/when you'd like this to occur:
At this time I have no particular plans, but I might give her an 8 and see what the dice say sometime in the future. :)

Overall History
• Family/childhood:
Elisabeth Nicole Frobisher was born in London to Muggle parents. She was the youngest of four children, the eldest of which would receive her Hogwarts letter in two years time. By the time Beth began to show signs of magical ability just shortly after her third birthday the Frobisher’s knew precisely why Norton’s hair had turned blue, and the following year when they took Harriette to get her books and supplies, Victoria had her eldest daughter pick up a book on ‘raising Magical children safely’, much to Harriette’s embarrassment.

Awkward outbursts of magic aside, Beth’s childhood was a relatively comfortable one. The Frobisher’s were comfortably upper middle class, and Beth attended primary school and enjoyed learning to read as well as getting to make a number of new friends. Her older siblings doted on her, particularly her sister who had been sorted into Hugglepuff and was eager to help her sister know what to expect when Beth received her Hogwarts letter as the entire family was certain that Beth would be magical as Harriette had been.

Perhaps the only uncomfortable aspect of her life was her relationship with her father. Although even in that regard, Beth had it simpler than her older sister did as Reggie Frobisher knew better what to expect from his youngest daughter. Even so, there were certainly times in Beth's childhood, particularly when she was younger, that she felt as if her father wished she were more like her sister Laurel or her brother Norton. Beth always liked summer times the best, as those were the times when Harriette was around and she could usually steal at least some of her sister's time for 'lessons'.

• School/work:
The Owl with the Hogwarts letter did arrive as expected, without a human professor to explain as Harriette had introduced the family to magic. Harriette was out of Hogwarts now, and it was she, rather than the Frobisher parents who took her younger sister to Diagon Alley to get her robes and her books and the cat that Harriette insisted that she purchase for Beth.

Beth was sorted into Ravenclaw where she quickly made friends within her house and threw herself into learning magic. While Beth was not the best student in her house (she was curious, but not always driven and when one considered the other members of her house) she was well liked by most students and teachers and Beth genuinely liked most people. It was during her fourth year that she tried out for the Quidditch team and to her surprise (and delight) made the team as a seeker a position she would hold for the rest of her time at Hogwarts.

It was towards the end of her fourth year that she realised that she might be a good Healer and began to pay more attention in the courses she knew she would need in her NEWT year if she did want to do that. Harriette's job with its straddling both Wizarding and Muggle world was not something that Beth wanted for herself. She loved the Wizarding World and had no real desire, despite the prejudice she sometimes felt as a Muggleborn, to live within the Muggle world.

Beth received the honour of prefect her fifth year, and threw herself into OWLs (at least into those she knew she needed for her Healer training, she just barely managed an A in History of Magic). Her sixth and seventh years she spent her time between Quidditch, prefect duties, studies, and of course a good deal of socialising in the Common Room, although she found that she had to cut back on that socialising, particularly during her seventh year as she began to feel more anxious about whether or not she would pass her NEWTs appropriately.

• Recent history:
Of course, Beth did pass. While she did not receive as many O's as she might have liked, she received the marks she needed to get admitted into the Healer training program, and she began the training at St Mungo's the following year, choosing to move in with her older sisters in London to help save a bit of money so that she could purchase her own flat in a few years.

What she had not counted on were the political changes that became more distinct with each year she was out of Hogwarts. As a muggleborn, she watched the Daily Prophet fairly regularly, feeling more and more as if her claim to the Wizarding World, something she had always loved and wanted, was being taken away from her and she did not like that feeling.

Beth had kept in contact with others from her year and the years surrounding hers at school, particularly other Muggleborn students with which she tended to feel a bond. One of these friends was Lily Evans, now Potter, and it was through Lily that Beth first became aware that there were people in the Wizarding World who were, in a somewhat organised fashion fighting back against the Purists.

Joining the Order would not have been Beth's first instinct, but as signs began appearing in stores that she had previously frequented and the people she cared about continued getting hurt, she began to realise that her place in the Wizarding World - the world that she'd grown to love and embraced as her own - was threatened. When she was offered a position in the Order, she took it hoping that they could stop the flow of the tide towards the exclusion or the belittlement of Muggleborn witches and wizards.

Unfortunately, since Beth has joined, more people have died - in many cases including some of her close friends - and when the Ministry fell she was left with uncertain what she should or would do. Currently she's chosen to get identification cards and keep working at Flourish and Blotts as she trusts her employer, and she is sincerely hoping that she won't walk into work one morning and be taken to prison as a threat to Wizarding society.

Now that she has free time on her hands, Beth has become interested in the eugenics that the Purists have embraced for themselves. The fact that both she and her sister have shown magical ability in a family that otherwise seems to have know connection with the Wizarding World has caused Beth to spend more time talking to her mother and she has begun some work into the Frobisher and Giles genealogies seeking to discover if perhaps somewhere in their past a witch, a wizard, or maybe even a squib might have given them the genes that allowed Harriette and Beth their place in the Wizarding World.

[IC] - Samples
1. I am certain they are confused as to why I have had people over to put up wards, but I won't leave any of us completely unprotected and Caradoc was kind enough to come and put them up.
I find myself consistently torn about whether I should try to find my own space in the Wizarding World, or perhaps go and stay at the Order safehouse - after all, it would be safer for Laurel and Harriette I'm certain. But they are my sisters and I do enjoy staying with them most of the time. I just hope that I am not putting them in any danger by living here.

What I must not do is allow these things to let me cease my studies. Perhaps more than ever it's important that I do keep looking at these curses and hexes. The Death Eaters will use them on any of us and will not hesitate to do so, and I'm not going to know what to do when I'm faced with healing someone who has been hit with a dark curse if I'm too squeamish to dig in and find out what I need to know.

3. The Minister of Magic, Aeneas Nott starred out from the front page looking stoic, or, as Beth could not help but secretly think, smug and bastardly. She moved across the room and turned the paper upside down. So Nott was a confirmed Death Eater then. Caradoc had said so. She pressed her lips together worried and rather wished she could go back through the last dozen years worth of Daily Prophet's so that she could look for Nott's name. She supposed it did not particularly matter. In the end he was the sort of man who would slice through two of Caradoc Dearborn's fingers, and that said something unpleasant about him.

"Tired of him staring at you?" Harriette looked bemused as she stood in the doorway, a cup of tea offered to her sister.

Beth nodded and stepped forward for the cuppa. She could hardly tell Harriette about what she knew about Nott, but then they'd both listened to the Resistance Radio the other night. Her sister was aware of some things. "How long before they no longer want me there?" Beth asked her older sister. "They're still letting me learn things now, but what if they stop?"

Harriette designed dresses and dress robes for a living and had found that her talents were as appreciated in the Muggle world (so long as she kept her finger on the pulse of Muggle fashion) as they were in the Wizarding, and recently, perhaps even more so. She would never have the same question of how to make a living as Beth would should the Wizarding World choose to throw them out.

"Then we'll figure it out," Harriette said walking across and taking the Daily Prophet to the stack by the fireplace. Even though neither the eldest sister nor the youngest needed newspaper to start fires, Laurel sometimes did. "You could always marry Edward and live a life of leisure," Harriette laughed, referring to the Muggle sweetheart Beth had acquired in primary school who was conveniently rather wealthy these days.

Beth waved her wand at the pillow on the sofa and the magical pillow fight that ensued was something they would have never done if Laurel was in the flat, but as it was almost calming. Even if it did nothing to solve the larger problems at hand.

His skin is pale and his hair and his eyes are extremely dark. He frequently slumps his shoulders; a habit gained when he increased in height during sixth year, nearly a full year before most of his peers. He has a large nose, and is not particularly attractive. His long hair, usually a bit greasy, very fine and without much body, does nothing to improve his appearances.
Style » Severus mostly wears school robes. This is because his own clothing, although better than when he was a child, is not particularly fashionable, well cut, or otherwise remarkable. If given the option he'll buy simple, dark robes that are extremely serviceable. If given the proper warning (and he thinks it is important), he can present himself decently although he will win no nominations for best dressed.

Hogwarts.

Severus is a classic INTJ. He is concerned with a practical usage of details, knowledge, and information. He constantly pushes himself to learn more and to become better at what he does. He also has a very small tolerance level for ignorance or blatant stupidity, particularly when it shows itself in the form of arrogance or carelessness.

Severus is introverted and occasionally awkward around others. Part of this comes from his upbringing, wherein his parents neither taught nor demonstrated good relationship skills, while part of it is inherent personality. Severus prefers the quiet and complexities of his books and studies to the noise of large gatherings and the complexities of other human beings. Because of his childhood, a large portion of it spent on the streets, Severus has learned to be an excellent observer of the circumstances around him. At a very early age, he had access to his mother’s magical texts and taught himself how to do hexes and charms to keep safe. Because of the limitations of using magic as an under-age Wizard, Severus learned how to make himself scarce and how to fit into a crowd, and is deceptively strong in the sense that he knows where to place a punch to debilitate a much stronger individual although he would prefer to use magic.

Severus is more emotional than he would like others to believe. While he was taught to see emotion as a weakness, he does feel and feel very deeply, and it is difficult for him to conceal these emotions. This year, he has felt even more emotional than normal, and anger is not an unusual feeling for him particularly where James Potter and his group is concerned. In his most quiet moments that anger is equally directed at himself for losing Lily's friendship, and frustration that nothing he seems to be able to say or do will earn back her regard.

Likes » Reading, potions, the dark arts, Lily, black tea.
Dislikes »James Potter, Gryffindors, ineptitude, arrogance (particularly undeserved arrogance), layabouts.

Strengths » Determination, pragmatism, logical thinking, and attention to detail, emotional connection to those he cares about.
Weaknesses » Cruelty, cynicism, single minded obsessing, anti-social behaviour, being overly emotional

Severus’ best qualities are his logical thinking and his ability to look at the small details and subtleties to pull together an accurate picture. He is a perfectionist when it comes to knowledge and academia. It is his desire to be the best in the areas of study that he must take. If he sets his mind to do something, he will follow through with the task and very rarely will he not succeed in learning what he has set out to learn.

Severus’ worst flaws typically involve human relationships. Despite his ability to be highly observant of people and circumstances around him, he has no relationship skills. At times he comes across as a loner, at other times because of his deep seated mistrust of people first gained from his Father’s violent behavior and later deepened by a childhood of constant watching over his shoulder, he simply comes across cruel or cynical.

Severus feels and can love deeply, but he struggles to express those emotions. It is rare that he should trust someone enough to share those emotions with them as he is deathly afraid of rejection and the burns from Lily's loss are far too recent. When Severus becomes frustrated, he often loses his temper. In his seventh year, he's found that temper very close to the surface much of the time and it is not unusual for him to snap at a younger student or someone he views as particularly idiotic - even his best friends.

Severus' keen ability to process information and strategize to come to a logical conclusion gives him excellent potential for leadership but he lacks the diplomacy to be truly successful in this area.

History & Family Relationships.

Life before school »
The courtship of Eileen Prince & Tobias Snape is a cautionary tale for young witches everywhere. Eileen Prince fell in love with Tobias Snape the first time they met. Tobias, who was by no means particularly handsome, did have a certain charisma in his younger days. Tobias was unaware of Eileen’s magical powers, and knew only that she came from a ‘well-off’, at least in his view, family. He encouraged her rebellion, thinking that when her parents died, they would leave the money to her and they, but particularly he, would be better off. He had not counted on the Princes' obsession with moving their lines back towards purity.

It was shortly after Severus' second birthday, that Tobias realised the truth, learning of Eileen's ‘abilities’. Tobias had also began to see that the Prince family would write Eileen out of the inheritance purely - he thought - for spite. Tobias’ actions changed towards Eileen, and what had begun as him seducing her swiftly was altered in his mind to her having seduced him. Magic was something he could not understand, and as a result of this, and his anger that she had lied to him, their relationship began to fall apart. By this point, with Severus being two, and her parents having disowned her, Eileen was closed into a miserable relationship. She saw herself in a place she could not leave, and she moved between depression and determination to teach Severus as much magic as she could although it angered Tobias and he would often yell both at her and at Severus.

Severus’ childhood was not happy. He was in and out of Primary School, partially to spend time away from his father, and partially on his mother's insistence that he learn to read. Severus hated his primary school teachers and the Muggle world of his father. The more Tobias tried to drag him into it and make him 'normal', the more Severus rebelled against it. When he was eight, Tobias lost his job at the mill and the family was dropped from just above poverty down under the poverty line. Tobias blamed Eileen and told her that she could 'magically' fix things. The two yelled and Tobias took up drinking. The first potion Severus learned to make was a hangover potion that he and his mother would force feed his father the morning after his nights out at the pubs. Eileen began teaching Severus simple spells and giving him access to her few magical texts behind Tobias' back.

Despite his mother's attentions to Severus' magical education, Severus spent hours away from the small, cramped row house at Spinner's End. It was at the park down the road that he met Lily Evans, a muggle who would become his only friend. Lily's life, her family, her sister, everything about her was a breath of fresh air for Severus, and he sought to impress Lily, despite his poor appearance, and awkward social abilities. Eileen wanted Sev to be well read on his family history, and magical history and theories. And Severus himself recognized that magic was likely his way away from his father and the unhappiness he felt at home. His mind sought reason and order and he was hungry to learn. Once they were offered, Severus sought access to his mother’s collection of magical books, reading everything that he could, including several on the Dark Arts. At an early age he began to try to focus magic in such a way that he could protect from potential prosecutors without having a wand. When he realized that Lily had magical abilities, he used his knowledge to impress Lily.

He knew a lot by the age of eleven, accounting for Sirius’ statement that he came to Hogwarts knowing more dark spells than many seventh years. Severus’ Hogwarts letter surprised no one but Tobias who determined Severus wouldn’t go. Eileen put her foot down in a way she had never done before. The fight that evening was fierce, but in the end Severus boarded the train. He had no money, nor would his Muggle Father’s name carry any respect, but he was determined to gain money and respect at Hogwarts.

Life at school »
When he arrived at Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat debated briefly between Slytherin and Ravenclaw. Severus’ ambition and strong desire for respect and influence quickly answered the Hat’s questions and he was sorted into Slytherin house where he immediately learned to treat his housemates with cautiousness. He was neither charming nor extroverted, but he was clever and he had a thirst for knowledge. He studied hard, spending days in the library, and trying to make certain he had all the answers to questions asked in class. Books didn’t lie to him, mistreat him, or keep secrets from him, unlike his experience with his parents and those students within his year.

He continued a friendship with Lily even after she was sorted into Gryffindor. Perhaps it was this jealousy of her being in the same house as Potter and Black that meant that within the first year he’d already made enemies of Sirius Black and James Potter. Envy made his dislike more palpable, and by the second year, he was actively seeking curses and jinxes he could use to defend himself from their ridicule.

He made friends within Slytherin house; doing everything he can to minimize the impact of his Muggle father’s name or his friendship with Lily, a Muggleborn. During his fifth year the strain between the increasingly fanatical murmurings of his pureblooded housemates and the friendship and attraction he had to Lily Evans increased ten times over. Severus didn’t want to give up either Lily or the possibility that he could make something of himself. While in Slytherin circles, he’d pass it off as merely a physical attraction that meant nothing, the truth was that he could share himself with Lily more than he could with anyone else and considered her his best friend.

At the end of his fifth year, the events of Snape’s Worst Memory occurred. After that point his relationship with Lily grew more strained. While Severus held onto some hope that he could salvage it even several months into his sixth year, the fight between his desire for Lily and his desire to befriend the right people to get ahead stretched them further apart. In the end, several events occurred during sixth year that snapped the rope between the two. The Whomping Willow incident and the fact that Potter had been given the Prefect position, turned Severus completely to his friends within Slytherin hoping that by doing so, he would be able to fill the gaping hole the lack of Lily created. Feeling that Slytherin students were the only students he could even consider trusting, he was soon pulled into the circle of future Death Eaters.

At the beginning of his seventh year Severus has thrown himself further into the friendships he was making in his own house. From Potter and Black, to himself, to Lily, to Lupin, to Dumbledore - there are few people that will not make Severus short tempered these days. He misses Lily more than he would like to admit, and deep down he believes that he and his fellow Slytherins are going to change their world for the better and secretly he hopes Lily might be impressed by his determination to be somebody.

Life over the summers »
Nothing in the Snape household has improved since his father's loss of a job. Nobody could call Tobias anything but an alcoholic, and his weaknesses have made Severus even more determined to never be like his father, and to reject anything Muggle as a sign of his Father's weakness. Thus, he spends his time reading his books, relearning his lessons, practising his spells, usually in his upstairs bedroom where no one can see or notice him and making potions with his mother. When he is not doing any of those things, he is not in the house. Until his fifth years, summers were spent primarily with Lily, but the summer of his fifth year found him spending only a few days out of that summer with Lily, and those conversations were awkward and vastly shortened. This past summer has been the worst one yet as he's had no Lily, his father has been horrible to him, and he desperately wants to be considered an adult and able to make his own decisions.

Other.

However, an alternative theory states that the name is derived from the common Germanic element heri meaning "army, warrior".
Harris - From Henry; (Germanic) From the Germanic name Heimiric which meant "home ruler", composed of the elements heim "home" and ric "power, ruler"

Birthdate/Age » 12 December 1972; 28 years of age
Height/Weight » 5'9" / 165lbs
Hair/Eyes » Ginger, very short. The largest burn is on his right shoulder and right side of his back, a he has a large cut on his left hip. He's got a tattoo on his right side (that thus far his mother doesn't know about) and a slightly smaller one on his left shoulder.

Physical Description » Red hair! Fairly muscular, shorter than some of his brothers, although around the same height as the twins, he makes up for height in his muscles, which are fairly well built. Charlie doesn’t care too much about the way clothing looks; he’s much more interested in substance and practicalities. When he was in school he wore the typical Weasley sweaters and socks without too much thought on it, now he looks for robes and clothing that is practical for his work.

2. Magic

Wand » 11.5" Rowan, Phoenix Feather .
Patronus » Labrador Retriever; Demonstrates Charlie's good nature, and generally extroverted personality.
Boggart/Worst Fear » Blindfold; Charlie's worst fear is being confined and unable to move freely.
Magical Strengths » Charlie has an obvious strength in Care of Magical Creatures. While he has had the most experience with dragons he has a knack with most magical creatures and always did very well in the class when he was at Hogwarts. Besides Care of Magical Creatures, Charlie is fairly strong in Transfiguration, Charms, and Defense. He tends to be better with magic that is active and uses wands.
Magical Weaknesses » Charlie was horrible at Divination and not much better at Potions. He's not particularly great at book and learning, although he managed to scrape by in his OWL exams.
Special Abilities » He regularly manages not to die when around Dragons! He was also an excellent Quidditch player.
O.W.L.s »

Care of Magical Creatures; O
Transfiguration; O
Charms; E
History of Magic; A
Defense Against the Dark Arts; E
Herbology; A
Astronomy; A
Potions; P
Divination; T

N.E.W.T.s »
Care of Magical Creatures; O
Charms; E
Transfiguration; O
Herbology; A
Defense Against the Dark arts; E

School/House/Years » Hogwarts; Gryffindor [1984 - 1991]
Job » Dragonologist at Incendium Draconis near Brasov, Romania.
Occupational history » Upon graduating Charlie tried out for several Professional Quidditch teams. Charlie believed he was going to be a professional Quidditch player. He was waiting for the official acceptance to the Chudley Cannons when he was sent an owl regarding an internship at Incendium Draconis. As Care of Magical Creatures had always been his favourite class, Charlie realized he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with dragons – something they’d never been able to do at Hogwarts. He accepted the internship for a year thinking that he would return to be a professional player the next year – that return never happened. That decision turned out to be a decision that would radically shape the course of his life.

Residence » Romania, He has a Yurt at the Incendium Draconis Camp, however he does travel back and forth to England and would stay with family members, camping in the woods, wherever seems safest.
Social Status » Blood traitor, Fugitive, Order.

Likes » Dragons, magical creatures, Quidditch, outdoors work, black tea
Dislikes » Paperwork, small or dark spaces, Feeling Useless
Quirks » Charlie is almost always moving. If he's sitting down he usually is tapping his foot or moving his leg. It's almost impossible for him to sit strictly still.
Sexual Orientation » Heterosexual for all intents and purposes.
Personality » Charlie is a typical ESTJ, enthusiastic and upbeat. He comes across as quite friendly and sociable when he is around others. Charlie is very aware of his surroundings and the world he lives in. He lives well in the outdoors and reacts very quickly to changes in his environment. It is this skill that made him an excellent seeker for Gryffindor as well as an excellent Dragon Keeper. Charlie is practical and dependable. He takes leadership roles easily and often is found in such a position without seeming to try for responsibility.

Charlie is an active person, rarely completely still, even when he’s thinking about or considering something deeply, he’ll be in motion, his leg, his fingers, a quill, something will be moving, something that occasionally irritates his coworkers at the Ministry. He is someone that enjoys the outdoors and appreciates autonomy, both things lacking from his current career. Although he is more serious after the war than he was before, Charlie still can often be found smiling. He isn’t the jokester that Fred and George are, but he’s got a great sense of humour.

His family and close relationships in his life are very important to him and he would die before he would allow anything to happen to someone he cared about if he had the opportunity. However, loss affects him privately and he tends to not speak about it with others. His separation causes him guilt and as he will often keep working at a problem until it is solved, he hopes to fix the problems between him and Hestia in the future.

Charlie is not always perceptive of the feelings of others or good at expressing his own. It may leave others, even his family wondering exactly how he feels. It is a contradiction that while he often comes across as quite easy going there are a few things he feels extremely passionately about and in these areas he can be stubborn and quite set in his ideas. Generally they involve his political viewpoints and feelings about his family and career choices. With these specific ideas he does not give in easily and is often unwilling to listen to the viewpoints of others. This can create conflict in his work and his interpersonal relationships and as he does have a bit of a temper if provoked, it can bring this less easy going side of him to the forefront.

Although he is friendly and personable, he often keeps his opinions and feelings close to his chest and those around him may find themselves wondering where he is emotionally.

6. Background

Early Childhood » Charlie is the son of Arthur and Molly Weasley. He has six siblings and is the second eldest son of one of the older Pureblood families. In general he gets along well with all of his siblings, particularly his older brother, Bill whom he considers one of his closest friends.

However, as boys are boys, when Charlie was two, his older brother Bill locked him in a trunk in their parents’ bedroom. Charlie has never quite forgotten the feeling of darkness surrounding him and being unable to make sense of his surroundings or do anything to alter them. This event shaped both his Boggart (a blindfold) and part of his personality. As a man who is typically ultra aware of his surroundings through all of his senses, Charlie hates feeling as if he has no control over his life or his surroundings, and a blindfold is a symbol of a barrier between him and the world around him thus giving him a feeling of helplessness and taking away a major tool of perception that he uses to keep himself alive.

Despite their squabbles as young children, Bill and Charlie grew closer as they got older. During Primary school, the two would often gang up on much younger Percy, teasing him indefinitely. When Fred & George came along, Charlie was six, and by the time the twins had begun to develop a distinct personality (about the age of one & six months) Charlie and Bill knew they wouldn’t be able to tease the twins indefinitely. Of course, this did not mean that they wouldn’t tease them as long as they could!

Generally Charlie had a happy childhood. He received his first toy broom at the age of six as a rather extravagant Christmas gift from his Uncle Bilius. Charlie & Bill had soon formed a Quidditch team of two and could be found in the yard in the afternoons “playing” Quidditch. As they grew older, Fred & George joined in, and until Bill’s departure for Hogwarts, the Weasley team was one of the finest in the Ottery St Catchpole area. Percy rarely joined the other four, preferring his “books” to the broomsticks, and he was often razzed about his preferences.

When Bill departed for Hogwarts in 1982, a year after Ginny was born; Charlie sorely missed his elder brother’s presence. It was a long year when Bill was gone and Charlie no doubt drove his parents insane asking to be able to owl him and when he would be returning for visits. It was with excitement (from Charlie) and relief (from the Weasley parents!) that his Hogwarts letter was received the summer of his eleventh year.

Hogwarts » During his first year, Charlie embraced Hogwarts wholeheartedly. He jumped into his life at Hogwarts with all the enthusiasm he had pursued keeping in touch with his brother the year before. Not one to spend a lot of time being nervous about whether or not he’d be able to do something, after the initial sorting hat ceremony, Charlie wasn’t too worried about school. He took to flying lessons very easily and was extremely excited to try out for the house teams going so far as to “introduce” (his words) or rather bother (the captain’s words) himself to the current Gryffindor captain.

He returned to Ottery St Catchpole that summer determined to somehow earn himself enough money to buy his own broom. Despite a summer of hiring himself out to do everything from rid draperies of doxies to remove garden gnomes, he has only half what he needs to buy even a sub standard broom. Disappointed, he returned to Hogwarts with a plan to make the team regardless.

Charlie returned to Hogwarts his Second Year determined to make the Gryffindor house team. Fortunately for him, many of the members of the Gryffindor team, including two of the keepers and one of the beaters had been seventh years. Charlie dutifully tried out for the team on a school broom. In spite of issues with the broom, the captain of the team was extremely impressed with Charlie’s ability to spot the golden snitch. Charlie was given a spot on the team and the captain suggested that he buy his own broom as soon as possible. Although many of the new players were talented, their inexperience showed. Gryffindor lost all of their games, and Slytherin took the house cup. During his second year, Charlie lived, ate, and breathed Quidditch. He absolutely loved the sport and where others groan at extra practices Charlie truly enjoyed them. During his second year, this earned him the nickname “captain’s pet” from the Gryffindor beaters.

Charlie practiced a lot during the summer. Fred & George were old enough to actually be decent competition and with Bill, the four of them practiced Quidditch during the summer evenings. Charlie continued his quest for his own broom, but fell short. His parents surprised him by presenting him with an early Christmas present: just the amount needed to get a Comet 180, an older broomstick, but one that would work well for him at Quidditch.

The fall of 1986, Charlie’s Third Year at Hogwarts, was Charlie’s first win as Gryffindor Seeker. All thoughts of him being a “captain’s pet” were as forgotten as last year’s pumpkin juice, and Charlie became the team’s hero very quickly. In his third year, Charlie picked up Care of Magical Creatures, which he enjoyed almost as much as Quidditch. Third year was when Charlie really started to feel comfortable at Hogwarts on and off the pitch. While other members of his family might feel very keenly the lack of finances, Charlie really didn’t mind – or at least, once he had his broom he didn’t. His first two years, therefore, may have been frustrating that way, but by his third, he’d found his place with the Gryffindor Team. Although he won the first Gryffindor match, and the second, they failed to win the house cup and Slytherin once again took that from him.

Charlie’s fourth year (1987-1988) arrived with the pleasant surprise of being appointed captain of the Gryffindor quidditch team. He held trials for the new members of the team and asked second year, Oliver Wood, who had spent most of his first year gazing in wide-eyed admiration at Charlie, to join the team. Practices were run rigidly. Charlie took his Quidditch very seriously, and although he might be easy going and likable, he did not put up with anyone else not taking Quidditch at least as seriously as he did!

Charlie returned to school his Fifth Year (‘88-’89) determined to win the house cup this time around. Charlie took on his duties of Captaining again this year and it turned out to be a good year for Charlie and the Gryffindor team. A winning streak that was begun with the first Gryffindor – Slytherin match was continued throughout the year and Gryffindor took the House Cup at the end of Charlie’s fifth year.

Of course, along with the hard work of winning the House Cup was the stress of the OWLs. With his OWLs, came the pressure to get good marks. Bill had already gone through the OWLs process and was currently studying for his NEWTs and was head boy, so the pressure had somewhat intensified for Charlie who had never been much for studies. Still, he did his best and managed to get OWLs in Care of Magical Creatures (easily his favourite subject), transfiguration, charms, history of magic, herbology, & astronomy.

Unfortunately that winning streak didn’t continue and during his Sixth Year Charlie had distraction in a different form. Oblivious to most of the females in the world prior to his sixth year, Charlie fell and fell hard during his sixth year. He’d had a few crushes previously, but none of them had materialized into anything serious. About halfway through the year, Ravenclaw prefect and Ravenclaw keeper, Ariel Lewis caught his attention. Or he caught hers. The two were rarely seen apart for most of the latter part of sixth year. Towards the end of the year, Gryffindor lost the match to Ravenclaw and although none of the team actually pointed fingers, Charlie couldn’t help but feel as if they blamed him for the loss. Unsurprisingly, the house cup once again went to Slytherin. Not wanting to choose between Quidditch and Ariel, he went to McGonagall at the end of his sixth year and asked her to choose another captain for the Gryffindor team.

During his seventh year Charlie and Ariel grew closer. Charlie once again won several matches as Gryffindor Seeker, and turned over in his mind the idea of trying out for some professional Quidditch teams. He continued his studies in Care of Magical Creatures, charms, transfiguration, and herbology. Sandwiched, as he was between his older brother Bill and his younger brother Percy, Charlie wanted to do complete NEWTs in all of his subjects. He and Ariel were still dating at the end of seventh year, and both of their families expected that they would get married.

Post-Hogwarts »
Incendium Draconis, Romania Years Upon graduating Charlie tried out for several Professional Quidditch teams and Ariel accepted a job at the Ministry of Magic. As Ariel began to travel more across Europe and Charlie was stuck in England, the two begin to grow apart. It was a bad break-up. Ariel had believed they would get married and as neither of them had talked about what their future plans were each took the other by surprise when their career choices didn’t mesh together.
Charlie believed he was going to go into Quidditch. He was waiting for the official acceptance to the Chudley Cannons when he was sent an owl regarding Incendium Draconis.

During the Second War »
Order of the Phoenix »
Charlie was the primary contact for the Order in Eastern Europe as he both recruited and passed information about Voldemort’s movements reporting directly to Dumbledore until Dumbledore’s death. After Dumbledore’s death, Charlie took a more active role in the Order of the Phoenix. He recruited three of his fellow keepers at Incendium Draconis, two female keepers, Essylt and Cherrie, and a mate of his, Damian. Together the three of them worked to strengthen the Order of the Phoenix on the Eastern European front. All four of them worked with witches and wizards in Romania, as well as with werewolves & vampires to try to keep them on the side of the light. Cherrie was killed as a result of her involvement with the Order in 1998, and her death, following as it did so closely on his Father's and brothers, had a huge impact on Charlie.

Charlie split 1999 evenly between his family in England and his time on the Romanian camp. His friends in Romania helped him through the dark days that followed although Charlie frequently found himself questioning whether there was any hope in winning England back from the Death Eaters. It was only gritty Gryffindor determination that kept him going throughout 2000, and it was not until the battle at the Riddle House that Charlie felt his resolve return completely, ironically when it looked as if things might be lost for good. He returned to Romania, wounded, but determined that he will lose no more of his family and that he will see his sister alive and happy again.

It was a bit nippy on this evening in Romania and definitely wet, but Charlie Weasley was glad to be out of the cabins and actually into the field. It had begun to turn rather chill and there was frost on the ground in the mornings when he woke up, but he knew he’d keep warm enough while he was out with the dragons. If nothing else, he could start a fire to keep himself warm and to help relax the dragons; they seemed to like the smaller fires around them. It created a sense of warmth and a relaxing atmosphere for them – and warmth for Charlie.

Tonight’s activities involved three of the Romanian Longhorns that he had been working with secondarily. Esmeralda, the pregnant one, was being watched by Damian and Salsbury almost exclusively now and although Charlie would probably be thrown back into the mix when they were determined he was well enough to not be injured by her, he currently was relegated to more mundane – or exciting, depending upon the circumstance – tasks at the camp. The Romanian Longhorns, some of the more fearsome dragons when riled or feeling protective, could be quite calm at night and when the weather began to get cool. It was almost as if the chill made them sluggish, which was possibly part of the reason Charlie was working them that night.

He gathered the robes around him and stared up at the group of dragons. There was a large male that was sitting on a rock ledge not far from where Charlie was. He’d been in nearly the same position since Charlie had arrived there that afternoon and didn’t seem much inclined to move, actually. The other two, a small young adult dragon that had a iridescent sheen to its scales that it wouldn’t have when it reached adulthood was moving restlessly, although slowly, through the trees to the right of where Charlie had put down his bag and a blanket so that he could sit.

All three of them had been moved recently from a group of hills in southern Romania to the camp for safe keeping and because of that they all seemed a bit edgy and possibly even timid – if dragons could be called timid.

personality

To the average individual, Rabastan is utterly refined and well mannered. He is a Lestrange son and he knows it. As the "spare", he has never felt the absolute responsibility to the name that Rodolphus no doubt wears, but he understands the privileges inherent in being a Lestrange. Through his father’s teachings and his older brother’s guidance Rabastan has always been proud of the history and the heritage of his family, and even more proud of the fact that his family has been so solid in their beliefs and their family lines over the centuries. He is extroverted, although not hugely so, preferring to spend time among his close friends and family. He does delight in the opportunity to show his privilege in company, a reality that can come across as arrogant to any he considers unworthy. Worthiness comes in the form of integrity – in Rabastan’s mind this means utter and complete devotion to the Dark Lord and the promotion of Wizarding culture - Of course wealth, power, and influence may add to your worthiness as well. Luckily for Rabastan, the two often run hand in hand in his world.

Rabastan is a patient and determined man. He wants results in the way that he perceives they should take place, but he is quite willing to work towards a process over a length of time. He is typically practical and hands on in any situation. He is less worried with the theory and discussion of abstract ideas, leaving theoretical reading to his older brother, rather he prefers to perform the action required to make those ideas take shape. He is less an idea-man and more a man of action, albeit he prefers that action to shape the world into the way he believes it should be and he resists change that suggests another alternative.

Rabastan enjoys the finer things of life. He was raised in wealth and privilege, and he is uncomfortable in any other setting. He wants his life to be comfortable and full of ease, and he can be materialistic in his pursuit of this life. During his time in Azkaban, this need was one of the most difficult aspects of his imprisonment: a lack of food, warmth, and anything resembling the comfort of the life he had once known. Azkaban has worsened this desire and since his release he is more materialistic than he was before, demanding the best in everything. On the other hand, this very situation created in him a steely resolve to never find himself lacking in these things again. Upon leaving Azkaban, the Dark Lord found himself a servant far less complacent and more devoted in regards to the Cause, than had entered the prison.

Rabastan is serious, with a dry sense of humour that can be lost on those who do not know him well. He completes any task that he undertakes with the utmost of care. He is a perfectionist, and requires absolute cleanliness and neatness from his surroundings. Again Azkaban has reinforced this need to an extreme, and a lack of cleanliness is one of the things that will tip his temper. His house elves are well trained and any messes left about his manor will result in a punishment for them.

Although pre-Azkaban he was extremely slow to anger, with his release, Rabastan is more likely to be able to be provoked. When he does, he has quite a temper, and typically requires time to calm down before he can forgive a slight. Slights to his family or the culture and cause that he has given himself to will not be easily overlooked. Although Rabastan’s family is not particularly given to the display of emotions felt, he is absolutely loyal to those he has offered his devotion: the Dark Lord, his family, and his wife Danielle. He regards loyalty and faithfulness as essential aspects to the society that he and his family have given everything to build. He prefers tradition and stability and strives to keep his life uncomplicated and methodical, with an emphasis on those whom he considers to be worthy of his attentions.

Rabastan has a strong sense of justice, which might seem odd in a Death Eater, but in his mind, the Dark Lord and the new era that they are fighting for is the best thing for the Wizarding World. Those who do not display the proper integrity deserve the punishments that are meted out to them. Although he dislikes the mess of many assignments required from him he is willing to make those sacrifices for the cause and sees it as his duty to do so.

Strengths;
Patience, practicality, loyalty, determination, neatness, and faithfulness.

Weaknesses;
Arrogance, materialism, stubborness, resistance to change, and a temper when provoked.

Personality Types;
ESTJ; Extroverted; Sensing; Thinking; Judging; Taurus

family & friends

Father [1927]; Alcander Lestrange »
Rabastan’s father was a formidable figure in his life. He learned at an early age that any word of his father was to be taken quite seriously. Rabastan’s father taught him the history of the Lestrange family, and his numerous predictions, discussions, and warnings about Muggles, the degrading of Wizarding culture, and what might be to come if the Muggle progressives had their way had as deep an impact on Rabastan as they had his elder brother. Rabastan was, and even at forty still is, deeply respectful of his father’s authority.

Mother [1930]; Thubana Lestrange »
In truth Rabastan is distant from both of his parents although he probably felt closer to his mother than his father. It is from her that he gets his social nature, and he used to peek through the banister at the parties she gave watching the people as they moved from room to room until the governess or nanny would lead him away.

Brother [1950]; Rodolphus Lestrange »
From learning to read, to the dueling club, to becoming a member of the Dark Lord’s circle, Rodolphus’ impact can be felt and seen as clearly as the Dark Mark on Rabastan’s arm. Rabastan respects his older brother tremendously even though as a child they were able to spend only a few weeks of the year together. There is no one whose advice Rabastan trusts quite so much as he trusts Rodolphus, and there are few who know him so well. Although both men have Inner Circle status and are well respected in the Death Eater ranks, Rabastan still considers Rodolphus his superior in many ways and will yield to his judgement.

Sister-in-law [1951]; Bellatrix Lestrange »
Relationship.

Wife; Danielle Edgecombe Lestrange »
With the Dark Lord's successes, Rabastan felt that the time had come to get married and to think about an heir for the Lestrange line. He was attracted to Danielle and the two had maintained a discreet affair, but with her married status, he knew that he would need to look elsewhere for an heir. Rabastan trusted her and felt her opinion was valuable and so he had asked her for her assistance in selecting a proper wife. When Danielle's husband had passed away, the opportunity was obvious. He was comfortable with her and cared for her-in his own way. He married her in December of 2002.

The two have a comfortable partnership – both within the Death Eater’s Inner Circle. Danielle is an excellent hostess, something he truly appreciates as he both enjoys parties, and enjoys being known for having excellent ones.

Stepdaughter; Marietta Edgecomb »
Relationship TBD

Other Friends; Inner Circle Des presumably »
TBD.

Still at well over six feet Rabastan can be an intimidating presence. When he was released from Azkaban he was quite emancipated, but now several years later he has filled out. His obsession with cleanliness and neatness means that he is very careful of his robes and outward appearance. He is nearly always impeccably groomed, and fastidious with maintaining personal hygiene.

Rabastan carries himself easily, well aware of the fact that he is both handsome and intimidating. To his friends and colleagues, he is typically confident and handsome, and charming. Although his presence is self-assured and confident at most times, post-Azkaban he is more likely to look over his shoulder when he is uncomfortable. It is a nervous habit left over from years of Dementors, filth, and freezing cold misery, and even now that he is safe, in control, and well-cared for, it can reoccur during moments of unease. When he is faced with traitors and those of filthy blood, his demeanor can change absolutely and he will use every advantage of his height and build to intimidate and bully those individuals as necessary.

PB » Christian Bale
Sexuality » Quite heterosexual

He was also a reasonably good dueller thanks to his elder brother's tutelage. He enjoyed making friends in the Slytherin common room and could often be found in the common room discussing politics, culture, and in some cases putting his patience to work playing Wizard's Chess.
These days, Rabastan still enjoys watching Quidditch. He does enjoy a good evening's dinner with colleagues and friends, and will engage in political discussion during these meals. Outside of this, he always enjoys a game of Wizard's Chess with a worthy opponent, and has been known to spend evening hours reading, although he is not as glued to books as his elder brother Rodolphus is.

Childhood;
Rabastan's childhood was a quiet one. Born in spring of 1961, the year that his older brother Rodolphus would away to Hogwarts, Rabastan's first years were nearly like those of an only child. He was raised by nannies and the odd house elf. Due to the age difference between them, by the time Rabastan was old enough to truly get to know Rodolphus, his elder brother was nearly out of school and looking towards marriage and the calling of the Death Eaters. Young Rabastan, although hardly old enough to understand the reality behind what his brother was participating in, was determined that someday he too would be among the group of his brother's friends, respected, and ready to do his part to support the culture and history they were a part of.

Around the age of six, Rabastan's parents hired one of the best tutors in England to teach their son the beginnings of reading, writing, and Magical culture and history. Rabastan particularly loved to read and listened carefully to the histories he was taught with a special emphasis in Quidditch rules, history, and players. Additionally, as he grew older he looked forward to the brief moments of time when he could talk to his older brother. Rabastan saw Rodolphus as a role model - someone he could truly look up to and emulate yet who, possibly because of age, was more approachable than his father.

Alcander Lestrange was an imposing figure in Rabastan's youth. His father's strongly voiced opinions about politics, the state of the world, and the responsibilities of the Lestrange family made their impact on the young boy. Rabastan learned early that if he disagred with his father on anything, he would do well to hold his tongue. His father's desires and commands were meant to be obeyed absolutely, and anything less resulted in punishment. It was a harsh realisation, the first time he crosses his father, but also one that has served him well in his service to the Dark Lord.

Hogwarts;
Rabastan arrived at Hogwarts in Autumn of 1972 eager to begin his career at Hogwarts. He was determined to be in Slytherin house. He knew that his father and elder brother would be unlikely to accept his membership in any other house and so initially when the hat was placed upon his head, he felt a sense of worry that perhaps he would not be good enough for Slytherin. As it turned out his worry was not completely unfounded. The hat briefly considered both Gryffindor and Hufflepuff before declaring very certainly 'Slytherin' was the place for Rabastan. With a sigh of relief, Rabastan made his way to the Slytherin table, to join others who would be Death Eaters or supporters in their adult years.

As they begin studies, Rabastan found that he particularly enjoyed charms, transfiguration and defense, and of course Quidditch. He was not small, but he was fast in his third year he was given the position of Chaser on the Slytherin Quidditch team. Rabastan also enjoyed the Duelling club and during the summers took opportunity to practise with his brother whenever Rodolphus was willing so that he could improve. Although he was not the best in the duelling club, he performed well enough and he improved with every year.

Rabastan was a moderately good student and received his prefect's badge for his fifth year. Rabastan was delighted with the honour and took the position extremely seriously. It was an opportunity to prove that he could be a leader and could promote better practises among the Slytherins students and indeed the Pureblood students in any house. During the summer of his NEWT years, he applied himself to the study of subjects that would be found in the Restricted Section.

His seventh year brought about some changes for Rabastan. The first was in the form of a blonde haired young pureblood woman, a sixth year, she caught Rabastan's eye and although he knew he would wish to wait until they had both finished school, he spent a goodly amount of time attempting to capture Cleodna's heart. Cleodna was completely different from any of the other young women in Slytherin, or in Rabastan's opinion, any of the young women anywhere. Although perfectly mannered, she had a quirky sense of humour that was unique: different from anything Rabastan was used to, and utterly intriguing to him. He determined that he would wait until she had completed Hogwarts, but would then approach her father for permission to court her.

At the midway point of his seventh year, his brother brought him to take the Dark Mark and Rabastan left Hogwarts a fully fledged member of the Dark Lord's army.

First War;
Once he had completed Hogwarts, Rabastan left and was able to fully throw himself into devotion to the cause. With his elder brother to guide him he carried out missions requested of him. Rabastan’s sense of justice helped him as he assisted the Death Eaters in systematically destroying those that moved against them. The Death Eaters and the Dark Lord’s cause seemed to be progressing very well, and Rabastan began to turn his mind to the family that he knew he would want to began in the new world.

Rabastan approached Cliodna's father in the summer of 1980, and the courtship was agreed to. Things seemed as if they were going well for Rabastan. The Dark Lord's cause was progressing, he had a beautiful fianceé, and he had the rest of his life completely planned out. Unfortunately, a little dark haired boy was going to disrupt all of those plans. After events at Godric's Hallow, Rabastan joined his brother and his sister-in-law in searching for any sign that the Dark Lord was still alive. Together they tortured the Longbottom's, and it was this that was to earn him a life-sentence in Azkaban along with Rodolphus and Bellatrix.

Azkaban;
Azkaban is a period of Rabastan’s life that he would like to forget altogether although it continues to haunt him. Although there is likely no one made for Azkaban, Rabastan’s social and active nature, compared with his love for comfort and cleanliness made him utterly unsuited to the environment of solitude, cold, filth, and Dementors. Rabastan retreated into his shell in the environment, becoming sullen, filled with only the memories of Cleodna’s face – memories that tormented him even more when the Dementors passed his direction.

The second war & New Era;
Rabastan left Azkaban a thin and haunted looking man. The in and the out of the first year was even more difficult for him than the past.

As the New Regime began to shape up, Rabastan was pleased to find his place within it. Although he still felt as if Dementors lurked over his shoulder, giving him an almost twitchy mannerism, Rabastan was beginning to heal – at least physically. Proper food, rest, and exercise began to fill him out again, although the internment had left lasting emotional scars. He sought out one of the old Lestrange estates and with fervor second only to his duty to the Dark Lord; he began to clean, to polish, and to restock the home into a place of wealth and beauty. There was nothing too good for the home building Rabastan sought to turn into a home. He accepted the position of Head of the Department for the Control of Magical Creatures and having always had a fondness for the beasts.

Home secured, position within the new government certain, Rabastan turned towards the other uncertainties of his life seeking to align them into how he felt they should be. The one thing Azkaban had not tainted was his patience, and so wife (and heirs) seemed to be the next thing necessary for his perfect life, but he was willing to give it some time to make that come about. His affairs with Danielle, a married colleague, while physically satisfying, would not satisfy the need for an heir, and so he turned to her for advice on whom the woman should be that would give him an heir.

It was during this time that he received an affirmative to receive a slave. The blonde slip of a girl arrived into his care and Rabastan thought very little of it. It was his duty as a servant of the Dark Lord to take a slave and to be the proper example those who were looking at the Ministry and the purebloods to provide. Luna Lovegood was a surprise to him however. Her sense of humour and remarkable ability to remain positive in the most ridiculous of situations reminded Rabastan much of his lost love. Although she was obviously much younger than Cliodna would have been, the memories she brought to the surface perhaps healed Rabastan emotionally after the draining experience that had been Azkaban.

When Danielle’s husband died, Rabastan saw the opportunity to take what was a illegitimate physical and emotional partnership and turn it into one that they could share with the world. He asked Danielle to marry him and she (to his relief) agreed. They were married in December, and were given only a brief period of time before he would be sent to Poland on diplomatic business for the Dark Lord.

Luna's release.

Rabastan will be returning from Poland, in time to see his beautiful wife become Minister of Magic. Rabastan is looking forward to seeing her, but feels some trepidation about how to best explain to her, to his brother, and the rest of his family, why he felt compelled to allow Luna to escape. The Slytherin part of him has turned over many excuses and individuals to blame, but he has yet to determine precisely how what he will say to his elder brother. Because he is a Lestrange, the idea has simply not occurred to him that there might be any great punishment for the indiscretion.

Often Kate wears it pulled back from her face. She has dark brown eyes and usually, but not always, wears glasses.
• Manner of speech: Scottish accent, Kate is fairly no-nonsense in her speech. When she says something it's precise and usually well thought out - or at least she tries to make it that way. She has a lower voice than one might expect from a woman, and can sing alto beautifully - not that she lets many people in on this secret!
• Manner of dress: Catalina always dresses professionally. Her clothing is appropriate for her job, and during her off hours is comfortable and practical. She doesn't know what to do with a formal event, and when she is forced into one, she always runs to Madam Malkin's and begs for assistance. This will result in her looking appropriate, but something will without fail look out of place when she is formal. It'll either be her jewelry (too much or too little) or her hair. Kate is simply much more comfortable in the wizarding equivalent of jeans and a t-shirt.
• Physical description: Kate is of average height and build, quite fit despite the fact that she does quite a bit of desk work. Part of her daily routine is a forty-five minute walk - often before dawn. Kate has most of her mother's Puerto Rican features, with dark straight hair, high cheekbones, and dark eyes. The only thing she has inherited from her father is her nose.
• First impression: Driven. The first impression someone would have of Catalina is that she is a force not to be reckoned with. She nearly always appears to be on task, although it may or may not be clear what that task is. Although she will not be mistaken for a fashion plate, she is always well groomed and neat in dress and appearance

Personal

• General personality:Kate has a number of typical Hufflepuff characteristics. She is loyal and she is a very hard worker. She is always willing to step up and do something to help another person. She’s got leadership potential, although she’s still at a low level within the Ministry, and with her willingness to work hard, it seems likely she might succeed in this regard if she can overcome some of her weaknesses.

Because of the uncertainties of her childhood Kate really wants to make things right. This need to make certain the world around her is good and just certainly affected her choice of career. As an Auror, she has to be careful not to hold too tightly to scenarios, and it can flow over very easily. Kate wouldn’t consider herself a control freak, but she does like things that she can control. This need, combined with her stubborn streak and the feeling that she really needs to prove she is competent and capable, can cause her to meddle when she should let something go and just be. This trait becomes particularly apparent when she is working under stress.

Catalina does have a need to prove herself, and this affects a number of areas in her life. At work, it means she is always willing to step in and do work, no matter how menial it might be. She is afraid that no matter how hard she works, she won’t be worthy of a position or an honour. She’s dutiful and you can always count on her to be on time, and to show up with what she’s said that she will do.

One of Kate’s strengths, but also a weakness is her generosity with her time, her money, anything that she has that she can give to other people, and she usually will give. If you’re one of her friends or family members, she’ll go the extra mile for you and she’ll ask for nothing in return. However, this is also distinctly a weakness as people who know she is this way can easily take advantage of her and she can find herself pulled in too many directions with not enough time for the things she needs.

Kate is a warm person, and usually very enthusiastic with what she’s working on. You don’t often find her discouraged, although it can happen (usually following a twelve hour work day and a caffeine/sugar high). She tends to honor traditions, which can be strength, but also a weakness as it means she is not particularly open to new ways of doing things. Additionally, she can be quite stubborn. When she’s made up her mind, it can be impossible to get her to change it.

Being unable to see new ways of doing things has particularly been difficult for her, as she’s completed her Auror training. She is dependable, but it borders sometimes into predictable – even in the field. Throughout her training, and even as she completed it, her instructors reminded her that those she would be fighting against might be very imaginative and unconventional. Although Catalina is aware of it and realizes that it’s not particularly a good thing, she finds it hard to be less conventional in her fighting techniques and to break away from what she knows and what has – at least until this point – made sense to her.

Kate really wants to be a good Auror, and she does try to approach the position with creativity, knowing – at least mentally – that simply doing what she is supposed to do may not be enough. She wants to perfect the Animagus spell as well, although she has been having difficulty with it recently, and is uncertain if she’ll reach her goal of being able to accomplish the transformation before the end of the year.

She truly would like to make contact with her brother, in particular, but she is afraid of making the contact: afraid that he will not be interested in meeting with her and the rejection she felt when her mother left still stings her a bit. It is one of her difficulties in establishing relationships as well, because she is afraid that she isn’t quite good enough, and people really won’t want to spend time with her.

ISTJ

• Strengths and weaknesses:
Kate's magical strengths are in defense against the dark arts and transfiguration. Her magical weakness is without a doubt herbology. She can mix magical herbs in potions quite well, but knowing how to prepare them and grow them she is not so good at.

Personality wise, Kate's largest strength is her willingness to get the job done. She is incredibly willing to step up and be the person who makes something happen. She is dependable, and she is generally capable. She will be the person who will spend long nights at the office after everyone else has gone home. Any project she is given, will be turned in when it is requested.

In her family life, this trait manifested it early on when she stepped in to fill her Mother's shoes in cooking and cleaning. This is also one of her largest weaknesses as it means that she often says yes to more than she ought to, and is willing to bite off more than she should. An additional strengths are her sense of justice and her hope for the best of people. A

Her largest weaknesses are her predictability and her generosity. While the generosity also acts as a strength, it can cause her to say yes to more than she should and give more of herself to a project or individual than is healthy. With her job and her being new in the department it creates a tendency to put off those that are important to her to do other things that she deems as more urgent for the DMLE whether or not they be more important. Her predictability and inability to think of unusual solutions to problem is her largest weakness as an Auror. She may be an excellent investigator and office worker, but her textbook approach to field work will likely cause her problems in the future.

• Mental health: Quite sane. Kate is practically the textbook description of normal, with a tendency to be a workaholic. As she is currently unmarried and without attachments this doesn't get in the way of her emotional health too much.

Family History & Relationships

• Relatives:
Father; George Bingham Proudfoot, b. 1915.
Mother; Lorena Proudfoot, b. 1940.
Brother; Julian Clark Proudfoot, b. 1961.
Paternal Grandparents; Victoria & Gregory Proudfoot

• Relationship with family:
Father;
Kate has a decent relationship with her father. It has not always been particularly easy for the two of them to get along, but Kate has mostly managed it. Her Hufflepuff characteristics of hardwork and loyalty kicked in during the summer between her first and second year at Hogwarts and Kate has managed to keep the house (at least in the summer) a mostly cozy home and help to put food on the table, even without the assistance of magic. George is proud of Kate and although the fact that the two look very little alike has caused some consternation when they are in public, at this point, Kate takes care of her father, and makes certain he's comfortable as he gets older.

Mother;
Kate has basically no relationship with her mother at this point in her life. She has memories of her mother from the first years before she left to return to her home country, but Kate is pragmatic enough to suspect the memories are far more full of glow than the actuality of the relationship was. She remembers her mother as beautiful, sad, and a very talented witch. In the past year, Kate has wondered whether she should try to contact her Mother and Brother, and may finally decide to get up the nerve to do so before the year is out.

Brother;
As with her mother, Kate has no relationship with her brother, Clark and for mostly the same reasons. When Clark left, they were both simply children. While they got along fairly well as siblings when they were young, Kate knows very little about her brother these days. As with her mother, she wants to try to contact him, maybe... and as with her mother, Kate keeps finding reasons to put that contacting off just one more day.

Grandparents; Paternal
Kate does see her grandparents regularly. Both are quite elderly, and so her relationship with them has never been particularly full of picnics and ice cream cones in the park, but rather quiet afternoons with tea. Her grandfather is excellent at transfiguration and charms and a retired auror. It was from him that Kate derived her inspiration to go into Magical Law Enforcement, and in particular the Auror's office.

• Sexuality: Default heterosexual.
• Significant other: None.
• Children: None.

Education & History

• School: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
• Years: [1968 - 1975]
• House: Hufflepuff
• Achievements: Prefect, years 5 - 7
• NEWTS:
O; Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Charms, Potions
E; History of Magic; Ancient Runes
A; Herbology

Occupational

• Occupation: Auror, Ministry of Magic, Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
• Previous jobs, if any: Worked part time at Killian's Toy Shop in Hogsmeade while completing her first year of Auror training.

The War

• How is your character involved in the war?
Kate works within the Deparment of Magical Law Enforcement as an Auror. She's just started at the department, but will be involved in cases working to stop the Death Eaters. She is currently working on getting approved as an Animagus, something she has wanted to accomplish from the time she first saw Professor McGonagall transform in her first year. She isn't quite there yet, but hopes to have it completed within the year, and hopes to use her skills as an Animagus to be useful to the Department. She's willing to work on practically any assignment she's given as she is both a work-a-holic, and an individual with a strong sense of justice and duty.
• Will your character die during the next year?
Y/N? I'm up in the air on this one. I think I would be willing to have her die, although in canon she's an Auror at Hogwarts so in canon she doesn't, so it would be a non-canon AU sort of death. As she is working in the Ministry and her father married a Muggleborn, I actually would offer her father up readily as someone who could be killed or tortured to get to her or information on the Ministry.

Additionally, as one of her flaws is that she is extremely predictable and has a difficult time approaching solutions in an imaginative or creative way, I'd really like some opportunities to have her grow. It's the sort of flaw that - particularly when you are fighting an enemy that does not play by the rules - could be a fatal flaw, and certainly should cause her problems.
• If yes, please give some details on how/when you'd like this to occur: N/A, see above.

Overall History
• Family/childhood:
George Proudfoot worked for the Ministry of Magic in the Department of International Cooperations, the Magical Trading Standards Body. It was through this job that he met Lorena in 1956. Although there was a large age difference between the two, George swept Lorena, who was just barely of age, off her feet, and by the end of 1956, the two had settled in Scotland, near Glasgow. Kate was born a year later, to both of her parents delight, and her brother Julian Clark was born just two years later.

Catalina, or Kate, as her father would call her, had a generally happy childhood. The Proudfoots were a middle class wizarding family, and her father's career choice gave them a solid income. George continued to be away frequently, however, and Lorena, who had not anticipated the chilly, damp, and often-dreary Scotland winters, missed him and her native Latin America. Lorena did try to brighten up those winters around Christmas. With lights, poinsettias and Christmas trees all around the house, the family would celebrate Octavitas and El Dia de Reyes and Julian and Catalina would look forward to what the three wisemen brought them.

George encouraged Lorena to share the traditions she’d grown up with and although it could sometimes be difficult to find the things they needed, Catalina’s favourite dessert growing up was arroz con dulce, a rice cooked with spices, raisins, sugar, and milk that Lorena taught Kate how to cook when she was nine. The two would spend time during the afternoons, Lorena teaching cooking and Kate learning it. While they worked Lorena would talk about her family in Puerto Rico, and told Kate about how when she turned fifteen, they would have a Quinceaneros celebration for her.

It was not to be however. Although Lorena brought a touch of colour to the house, bright drapes and beautiful plants could be found everywhere creating a greenhouse effect in many of the rooms, she grew increasingly more depressed. With her depression, the differences between husband and wife became more pronounced. When Catalina was eleven years old, Lorena put her foot down and said that she wanted to return home. George and Lorena fought, and in the end Kate, who had just received her Hogwarts owl, was her father's only victory. Lorena took Kate's younger brother and left England to return to her home. In other circumstances, Kate might have been crushed, but as it was, she had very little time to contemplate it, as a month later; she was at Hogwarts as a first year.

• School/work:
Kate was sorted into Hufflepuff house almost instantly. Although she had a brave heart, the Sorting Hat said, she was far better suited to Hufflepuff's legacy of hard work, determination, and loyalty. Kate didn't argue. She found that she easily fit into the surroundings. Her classes were hard work, but if she kept busy thinking about that, she forgot that her Mother wasn't going to be home when she went for Christmas holiday, and Kate didn't mind not remembering that. She loved most of her classes, although her favourites were Transfiguration and Potions. She knew that eventually she wanted to conquer the Animagus spell after seeing Professor McGonagall transform in front of the class, and she liked the precise directions Potions had.

Christmas that year was awkward. Kate returned to find her father and an extremely dirty house. Gone was the light and the colour that her mother had tried to bring into the place, and Kate determined that she'd not see it that way again. After scolding her Papa, she set to work. Most of her Christmas holiday was spent with scrubs and buckets - no magic allowed even if she'd known the spells to clean properly - but by the time she returned to Hogwarts the main living areas, at least, were clean. The same was true when she returned for the summer. She and her father fell into a routine. She cleaned, she cooked and she did her best to fill up the house with things that were happy.

Meanwhile her classes continued and she worked hard. As her fifth year approached and with it her fifteenth birthday, Kate missed her Mother a lot. Although her father tried to make everything pleasant for her some things just weren’t quite the same. On her fifteenth birthday, she was surprised when her Father had prepared the Quinceaneros celebration for her. With her friends and classmates, she celebrated her fifteenth birthday and was thrilled a week later to receive her Hogwarts letter and a shiny prefect badge.

She went on to take seven classes for her NEWTs, and it was around this time that she became obsessed with the idea of joining the Auror's department after she completed her NEWT. Her grandfather Proudfoot had been an Auror, and she spent several weeks the summer between her sixth and seventh year assisting him and her grandmother at their manor in Nothumberland. She returned her seventh year to pass her NEWTs (most of them) with flying colours, although she spent very little time that year doing anything other than studying, and prefect duties.

• Recent history:
Following Hogwarts, Kate took the tests to begin the Auror training. She was accepted on the basis of her NEWT scores and the remarkably strong way she tested on defense skills. she loved auror training, loved working with the real Aurors, and wanted more than anything to continue doing something right. Catalina developed a bit of a crush on Rufus Scrimgeour, the head of the Auror department, and anything he asks of her, she'll do without notice of how many hours she might have already spent on work that day, or whether or not it is supposed to be her holiday.

Kate moved out of the house and to Hogsmeade where she keeps a small studio flat over the Dry Market. Kate does not have a lot of time for socializing now that she has been accepted as a full time auror. She works hard, sees a lot of the other individuals in the DMLE, and sees her father and grandparents on the weekend.

In Character
